Wedding Entertainment at Mythe Barn
This beautiful Summer wedding was for Sophie and Nathan at the Mythe Barn.
They wanted a day to remember – with traditional elegance, modern sophistication and 𝚋̶𝚘̶𝚘̶𝚣̶𝚎̶ lots of laughs. That’s where I came in…
I met Sophie at a wedding fayre two years ago and it was love at first sight! Sophie had fallen for the Close-Up Corner: the perfect wedding entertainment for her wedding!
Why Wedding Entertainment is so important
Weddings are a special day for the bride and groom, but they can also be stressful. Great entertainment can help relieve some of the stress, ensure that the celebrations are magical and help everyone to enjoy themselves.
The perfect wedding entertainment at a wedding is one of the most important elements that will make or break your day. It’s what sets you apart from other weddings in town!
Of course, the options for you are endless but as you’ll see from the following images – I highly recommend some form of interactive entertainment for your guests such as close-up magic. I can’t think of another form of entertainment that produces such amazing, out-of-this-world moments that leave a lasting impression on your guests.
The Wedding Venue
Mythe Barn is a stone’s throw away from Sheepy Magna. It is a stunning wedding venue with an oak barn, beautiful gardens and offers exclusive use for you and your guests to enjoy a memorable day.
On the day
Covid restrictions meant that they were a few conditions in place – namely, NO BREATHING but other than that, the wedding was largely unaffected!
I set up the Close-Up Corner outside in the courtyard which instantly generated some “Woah – what’s this all about?” comments and general intrigued!
You see, the Close-Up Corner is a bit of a beast. The huge C-shaped backdrop instantly creates a touch of glamour, a slice of mystery and a splash of “this is going to be a fun wedding” vibes.
It wasn’t long before the first gaggle headed on over to see what the deal was!
Like a shark in a swimming pool, The Close-Up Corner throws up some serious WTF moments and with a strict brief from Sophie the Bride: ” show them something that would make their eyes pop out”, I set to the task!
The Drinks Reception
During the drinks reception, the wedding photographer works his/her magic with the group shots and newly-wed romantics, leaving me to work my magic with the guests!
Entertainment during the drinks reception is a great way to set the tone for the rest of the wedding and has the added bonus of giving your guests plenty to talk about during the rest of the day.
You’ll see from the following shots, these aren’t any Uncle Charlie tricks – we’re talking Harry Potter on ACID (there’s your next book JK Rowling) which provide the most awesome photo opportunities for your photographer.
With these reactions, we’re able to generate a wonderful atmosphere that helps weddings tick along nicely.
I was booked for both the drinks AND evening reception (an exceptional combination) – the latter, something the bride and groom added the week before the wedding due to the NO DANCING restrictions put in place by the government.
Turns out, the Bride is a dance teacher and later that evening, she teamed up with her Dad to wow the guests with a surprise dance routine (outside)- it was SICK! (cool/fun/mega – choose your favourite)
Evening Fun at the Mythe Barn
After the wedding breakfast, as the wood-fired pizza oven was stoked up at the impressive outdoor kitchen, I served up a range of tricks in the Close-Up Corner – culminating with a special VIP performance for the Bride, Groom and their besties.
A strong entertainment programme for the evening ensures that the party is not over and keeps everyone engaged and entertained.
Here, we reserved the Cream de la Cream for our newly-weds who got a special, bespoke 10-minute set that no one else has witnessed that day.
Great to be back
Since lockdown began, I’ve done a handful of gigs online and thought it was decent. I got to perform, I got paid (whoop) and fun was had. This wedding reminded me of that feeling you get with a live audience (2 metres apart, of course) – a feeling that a Zoom session could never provide.
It was great to be back – back at a wedding venue with a wow factor, back with a super friendly bunch of guests and a lovely Bride and Groom.
Oh, and my wife was there as the wedding photographer which meant I got these fantastic reactions shots… and a lift back home!
